As I re-enter Cambridge clinical school, it’s safe to say things are a little different.
February 2019: I left the course jaded, exhausted and unsure of my future aspirations. I had been worn down by the trials of medical school and lost my ambition. I wanted to change the world, but the world had changed me.
October 2020: I’m truly a different person, with a completely new outlook and robust mental systems. There’s only one slight problem: there is now a pandemic.
The two situations couldn’t be further apart and yet my aim is still the same; I need to make the most of my opportunities, explore my interests and get my degree. I’m excited to see what happens with the next two years but I also know significant challenges lay in wait.
Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I hope my placement diaries provide some insight into what medical school was like during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic. Maybe I’ll turn my experiences into a book, who knows?
